The late, great J Dilla is rightfully prasied as one of the best hip-hop producers ever. Almost exactly a decade after his 2006 death, Jay Dee's mother Ma Dukes is celebrating her son's life and legacy. The 2nd annual J Dilla Weekend festival will be held February 5th - 7th 2016 in the Wynwood section of Miami, FL. The inaugural festival was a resounding success, and Ma Dukes looks forward to making it an annual tradition.
With the festivities only a month away, the 2016 lineup is now officially set. Southern hip-hop icon Bun B, The Roots frontman Black Thought, microphone assassin Jay Electronica, and Diggin In The Crates pioneers Diamond D and A.G. are now confirmed for the J Dilla Weekend stage, joining the likes of DJ Premier, Slum Village, Royce 5'9", 9th Wonder, Rapsody, Chuck Strangers, A-F-R-O, Kev Brown, and more. In addition to performances from high-profile artists and DJs, J Dilla Weekend also features producer panels, BBQs, photo/art exhibits, and other events celebrating Jay Dee's life and legacy. This year also features an official Dilla Record Exchange sponsored by Discogs.
